Lune Studio partnered with fellow Lancaster University alumni founders Percy Lee and Yang Luo to design and develop a new website for Tora Ramen — an independent Japanese ramen and izakaya restaurant located in the heart of Lancaster city centre.

As a Lancaster-based web design agency, the goal was not simply to create a visually appealing restaurant website, but to build a high-performing digital presence designed to maximise local visibility, strengthen brand perception, and support long-term business growth through organic search.

With the restaurant rapidly establishing itself within Lancaster’s independent food scene, the website needed to position Tora Ramen as a leading destination for Japanese dining in Lancaster, whilst remaining intentionally simple, intuitive, and easy for customers to navigate across all devices.

The Brief

Tora Ramen required a modern restaurant website capable of balancing strong visual identity with practical functionality.

The new website needed to:

  • Improve visibility across Google for searches related to Japanese restaurants, ramen, sushi, and dining in Lancaster
  • Showcase menus in a clear and mobile-friendly format
  • Support online table reservations
  • Promote and sell popular restaurant gift vouchers
  • Reflect the restaurant’s vibrant yet minimal brand identity
  • Create a stronger connection between the physical restaurant experience and the digital experience

Alongside performance and usability goals, the founders wanted the website to capture the atmosphere of the restaurant itself — warm lighting, energetic interiors, authentic Japanese influence, and contemporary city-centre dining culture.

Our Approach

Lune Studio designed and developed a fully responsive website centred around simplicity, speed, and clarity.

Rather than overcomplicating the experience with excessive animations or cluttered layouts, the focus was placed on strong typography, immersive imagery, clean structure, and intuitive user journeys designed to guide visitors naturally toward key actions such as:

  • viewing the menu
  • booking a table
  • ordering delivery
  • purchasing gift vouchers

The visual direction combined minimal layouts with bold Japanese-inspired typography, rich colour contrast, and visually engaging photography and video content to create a digital experience that felt authentic to the Tora Ramen brand.

From an SEO perspective, the website was strategically structured to maximise local search visibility for high-intent hospitality keywords across Lancaster and the surrounding area, helping strengthen Tora Ramen’s presence within an increasingly competitive local dining market.

The finished website delivers a refined and highly accessible digital experience that mirrors the atmosphere and identity of the restaurant itself.
